In Rainbows

If we could, why wouldn’t we?

Why listen to those around,

Why take the path we’ve found,

Why adhere to the normal sound?

The cacophonous gaze of the eyes

That peer at me as if I said constant lies

Eats at me and makes me shiver as all hope dies.

It’s a cycle of cold, of aching anxiety,

Of dreaming of living to three below thirty,

And not even living; rather just being.

So why not take off to a mountain,

Why care for who else drank from the fountain,

Because without care we’d be closer to seeing.

There’s rainbows out there,

Do you care to join me?

Please be free.

There’s rainbows out there.

Let’s swim out to sea.

If we could, why wouldn’t we?
